Dan Severn appearing on Elevation Radio, Jayson Werth appearing in Elevation’s dreams.
Former UFC Champion and UFC Hall of Famer Dan “The Beast” Severn will be joining me on Elevation Radio on Friday October 16th at 9AM.
The Beast will be on to discuss his amateur wrestling career, his MMA battles against the likes of Ken Shamrock, Tank Abbott, and Forrest Griffin, his WWF career and experiences working with the likes of The Rock and Owen Hart and his side work teaching self defense to law enforcement and BORDER PATROL GUARDS.
He was a trip to talk to on the phone while setting up the interview last week and it should be a really fun time this Friday when he joins me on the show.
Dan Severn is one of 7 members of the UFC Hall of Fame and is a former UFC Tournament and Super Fight Champion. If you love the early rough and tumble days of MMA, Dan Severn is your man. He has between 150 to 200 career fights and is still going strong today at 51 years old.
If you have any good questions, I’ll be more than happy to slip them in.
I’ll also be discussing the MLB Playoffs, the latest MMA and NFL action and more.
Sorry the show is so early (I never wake up before 10:30) but The Beast is a busy man and has to do the show early.
Your calls are welcome for a very special Hall of Fame edition of Elevation Radio @ 646 716 5746
Here is the link to the website plus my archived shows with the likes of Bret Hart, Vince Papale, and Frank Shamrock

After twenty minutes of dealing with my poor interview skills, The Beast probably will not be smiling.
Luckily the Dan Severn show did not take place on Monday morning. The 4 hour 5 minute Phillies/Rockies playoff game on Sunday night was one of the most exhaustive sporting events I have ever experienced. I am a huge Phils fan, and can undoubtedly say that games 3 and 4 of the NLDS in Coors Field were far more stressful than any single gmae the Phillies had last year on their post season run. The games were close. They were long. They were tension filled. Each team really wanted it and had similar strengths and weaknesses. However, in the end the Phillies ridiculously deep lineup and Brad Lidge’s newly found mojo were the main reasons for the Phils triumph.
Brad Lidge 2009 season was one of the worst seasons for any major league ball player in the history of baseball. He was 0-8 with a 7.21 and 11 blown saves. It was a complete disaster by any statistical measure. Yet, he was able to rise up in the big moment and seal the deal in games 3 and 4 against the heart of the Rockies order including such dangerous hitters as Todd Helton and Troy Tulowitzki. For some reason a week before the playoffs started Lidge decided to start throwing a brutal cut fastball that rivals something you’d see from a Mo Rivera. The pitch was lethal against the Rockies and can hopefully fool dangerous Dodger hitters like Manny and Andre Ethier. Two weeks ago Brad Lidge was getting nWo like heat and now he is as big a babyface as Stone Cold in Philadelphia. I think Lidge has conquered his demons and the Madson-Lidge Bridge to Victory from 2008 has been re-established.
Brad Lidge is also a symbol for Pennslyvania's vast Amish population with facial hair.
The Phillies are a dangerous team because Charlie Manuel has been able to carve out a role for all 25 guys on the roster to contribute to the victory. Whether its Ryan Howard driving in huge RBIs in the late parts of game 3 and 4, Cliff Lee pitching brilliantly in games 1 and 4, or Carlos Ruiz turning into one of the biggest clutch hitters in baseball, this team will attack you from all angles. Everyone on this team from the brilliantly named Antonio Bastardo to MVP quality second baseman Chase Utley will step up in the big moment and do everything they can to ensure the Phils make anotiver visit to the Promised Land.

If Antonio Bastardo were a Mexican wrestler, his son would be named El Hijo del Bastardo. The Son of the Bastard.
My favorite player in baseball is the walrus-like Matt Stairs. I instantly became Stairs’ biggest fan in the world when he hit one of the biggest home runs in club history last in game 4 of last year’s NLCS. Stairs marched up to the plate like Pedro Cerrano in Major League and just murdered an 8th inning, 3-1 pitch from Jonathan Broxton into the right field sky and cemented his place forever in Phillies lore and in my heart. Watching that two run home run as it happened may have been my favorite moment in sports fandom. It was even better afterward when Stairs admitted that he loved getting his ass hammered by guys in the dugout. That was a bit revealing, but hey it was a joyous time. I predict Stairs will pay Mr. Broxton another visit in the 2009 NLCS. Buying his jersey shirt last fall was one of the greatest purchases in the history of online shopping. Thank you credit cards.
One of my other favorite players from the Phillies is Jayson Werth. His single in game 4 gave the Phils the lead, and completed our miraculous comeback off of Huston Street in Denver on Monday Night. Much like his dopelganger Edge of WWE fame, Jayson Werth reeks of awesomeness. You think you know him?

WWE Star Edge.

Jayson Werth: Philadelphia Phillies star. He could beat the Undertaker at Wrestle Mania.
Well folks. It is going to be a monster of a series. Great managers. Great players. Who knows what way it will swing.
However, I do have one message for the Dodgers. You are about to go one on one with the Great Ones.
I decided to take the liberty of making lodging reservations for the Dodgers for when they come to Philadelphia. They have to go down Know Your Role Boulevard which is on the corner of Jabroni Drive and then check directly into the SMACKDOWN HOTEL.
