The New York Chronicles Part II- Giants Collapsing, Hitman Returning, and More!

Try and get him to pull a Michael Richards.
Greetings from New York City. It’s been awhile since you have heard from me and I apologize. Since the last piece the following things have happened:
The Giants have collapsed, going from best team in NFC to thank heaven for the Cowboys and December. The Jets have lost a bunch of games that they should have won and won some games they should have lost. Mark Sanchez refuses to slide feet first for whatever reason. Both teams are still in the playoff hunt.
The Rangers couldn’t score if they brought prostitutes to the prom. They started off hot again but seem to win only when Gaborik scores twice. After a terrible start the Knicks have been playing much better. Please disregard the 48 three pointers they threw up last night against the Bulls, completely playing into their hands. They are moving the ball much better and are committing to defense and have played much better since benching Nate Robinson.
The Mets must be gearing up for the summer of Lebron just like the Knicks, because they aren’t doing a damn thing since the hot stove season started. The New York media hasn’t been kind to Mr. Minaya. He didn’t have the minor league chips to acquire Roy Halladay and John Lackey isn’t Hispanic so he didn’t go after him. Not signing Lackey might turn out to be a good thing, however. The Angels aren’t exactly a team rich in starting pitching. Why would they let their ace go like that? There is speculation that Jason Bay will make his way to Queens but wants a 5 year deal, while the Mets will not bid against themselves and are staying put at 4 years.

Omar Minaya's preferred starting lineup.
That leaves us with one team. The World Champion New York Yankees. I am not sure as to whether you are supposed to capitalize the W and C in world champions but who cares? It was one game later than I predicted on this site but they got it done anyway. They just acquired All Star CF Curtis Granderson and let World Series MVP Hideki Matsui go to Anaheim. Today, they signed oft injured first baseman Nick Johnson to be their DH and bat second. That would probably signal the end of Johnny Damon’s time here in pinstripes. The Yankees still need another starting pitcher. I know he had a bad year but releasing Chien Mien-Wang is a big mistake in my eyes. The man won 19 games two years in a row and he is just as much a question mark as any other starting pitcher that is available in free agency now.

Nick Johnson is coming to town, this place better be ready to deal with all his injuries.
The St. Johns Red Storm are off to a really good start. No one still cares. It’s been so long since they mattered that they need to probably beat a couple of good teams to get people to start talking about them. 15 year senior Anthony Mason Jr., son of former Knick Anthony Mason (duh) is out for a little while but I still think they will do well until he gets back.
This game between the Jets and the Falcons can be very dangerous for Gang Green. The Colts loom on the schedule next week and with no Matt Ryan or Micheal Turner scheduled to play the Jets can overlook them this week. They are in no way guaranteed a playoff spot, and with the Colts and Bengals being the last two teams on the schedule they really need this W. Darrelle Revis should be the defensive player of the year this season. No WR has a good game against this guy and is the biggest reason why the Jets defense is number one in the league.
The Giants get the best last place team of this decade, the Washington Redskins on Monday Night. After gift wrapping a game to the Eagles last week the Giants need this victory. The Cowboys pay undefeated New Orleans on Saturday so they should be playing to pass the Cowboys for the last wild card spot. I see both the Giants and the Jets winning this week. Both games will be tough though.
Random thoughts.
If I hear that Empire State of Mine record by Jay-Z one more time I am going to start taking hostages.
You think Mike D’Antoni regrets coming here?
All this talk about why would Lebron James want to play with the Knicks? That supporting cast is no good. Name one guy on the Cavs outside of King James that scares you. Put Al Harrington on Cleveland and it’s a different series against Orlando.
Thomas Jones is the most underappreciated athlete in New York.
Who is loving Tiger Woods more than David Letterman right now?

Hide the women, Tiger and Letterman are coming to your town!
The Atlanta Braves might be a problem in the NL East next year. Likewise the Seattle Mariners in the AL West.
They are planning to cut free metro cards for students here to save money. What if they stopped giving free passes to those who work for the MTA? Or those who used to work for them? Or what if they made a better effort to stop people from jumping on the back of the bus without paying? Has to be a better option.
Tyreke Evans is already a top 15 player in the NBA.
Facebook I am convinced is a cult. Everyone always seems so damn happy.
Bret Hart in the WWE? Are they really that afraid of TNA?
Keep playing like this Jared Jeffries and I will never say anything bad about you again. Most likely because you will not be playing here.
Lastly, I want to wish a happy retirement to Charlie Gibson. You are the best at what you do.
Short article I know. But I will be back much sooner than last time and will have another top ten list.
To hell with being PC. Merry Christmas.
